JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior Websphere Administrator



This position is responsible for administrating WebSphere Application Servers (v5/v6) and WebSphere MQ in an AIX UNIX environment. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, architecture, periodic monitoring, performance tuning, diagnosing, troubleshooting and support of Application servers.



Candidates must be proficient in WebSphere Deployment manager administration,

Work Load Management (WebSphere Cluster), WebSphere Application server & Application Security, conducting performance testing and analyzing results as part of the project life cycle. They should be a self-motivated team player with the ability to perform the responsibilities detailed below.



Application deployment and rollout with solid understanding of the following concepts: HTML, XML, J2EE, Secure Sockets Layers, Secure Certificates, Load Balancing, Application / JVM Tuning, TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, firewalls and multi-tiered architectures. Knowledge on Java & Web Application run time environment. Knowledge of WS-Standards (Security, Management, etc), SOAP, WSDL and WebSphere Message Broker are a plus.



At this level the successful candidate will be keeping the WebSphere application server environments (Development, Quality Assurance, User Acceptance testing, Performance Stress and Production) in a healthy and fine-tuned state.



Qualifications:

* BS/BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related

* IBM certified WebSphere administrator WAS 5/6.1

* IBM certified WebSphere administrator WPS 5/6.0

* 4+ years experience as a WebSphere Administrator

* 3+ years experiences as an AIX administrator

* 5+ years experience in Web infrastructure and deployment

* 3-5 years experience with WebSphere MQ Series and MetaStorm (formerly CommerceQuest) PM4DATA (formerly Data Integrator) in a large-scale corporate environment. Responsibilities must have included infrastructure design with high availability and DR considerations, as well as consulting for application design best practices

* Candidate must have strong UNIX, mainframe, and Windows skills. Experience with Windows 2003 server, AIX, IBM z/OS, Solaris, and SUSE Linux is preferred.

* Working knowledge of HTML, XML, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, LDAP, firewalls and multi-tiered architectures

* Experience with administration and implementation of WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus products.

* Excellent skills in performance tuning of WebSphere application server and IBM HTTP server for optimal performance based upon user load

* Excellent trouble shooting skills in various areas (start to finish)

* Proven ability to use programming and scripting languages including but not limited to PERL, UNIX Ksh/Csh, "C", Java/Script and Java

* 4+ years of experience with UNIX and UNIX shell scripting

* Experience in integrating WebSphere servers with IIS, LDAP, External "Trusted Authenticators" (e.g. Sun Access Manager) DB2, SQL Servers, and .NET servers.

* Prefer candidate to possess at least 2 years of hands-on experience with enterprise middleware products, like WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere Event Broker, and WBI Server Foundation. Additional experience in the technology lifecycle management, configuration, optimization, and tuning of these types of products is a plus.

* Experience with the Tandem OSS platform is a plus

* Working knowledge of WebSphere on Linux (SuSE/Redhat) and Windows is highly desirable.

* Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action

* Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis with a high degree of initiative and sense of urgency

* Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers are essential in this role

* Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives and projects
